Quarry Bay School is a four-form entry school with approximately 720 students.

Mainscale Class Teacher (9 Oct 2017 to 29 Jun 2018)


Quarry Bay School is seeking to appoint a full-time main scale teacher from 9 October 2017 to 29 June 2018. The position will be a temporary contract only.

The main role of the classroom teacher is to maximise student learning and development through the planning, preparation and teaching of programmes which meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers teach a range of student abilities and classes and are accountable for the effective delivery of their programmes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection in order to improve their knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning.

Classroom teachers assume roles beyond the classroom in endeavouring to maximise students’ learning. These roles include working collaboratively with colleagues and other members of the school community, and communicating with parents and care-givers.


The successful candidate for this post must have:
• Bachelor Degree in Education, or
• Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
• 1-3 years’ teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation

In addition to these requirements, the successful candidate for this post will ideally have:
• Experience with the PYP curriculum framework.
• A commitment to effective teamwork.
• Excellent communication skills with students, staff and parents.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Evidence of capability in using ICT in teaching.
• Genuine care about children and be concerned about the development of the whole person.
• High level organizational, administrative and time management skills.
• A commitment to self-evaluation and self-improvement.
• A commitment to international education.
• Experience working with students with special educational needs
