Teacher of Chemistry


We are seeking to appoint a full-time Teacher of Chemistry for the start of the school year in August 2019. The position will be a two years renewable contract.

Chemistry is a thriving subject within the school. The majority of our learners will take individual sciences at iGCSE and we typically have four IB Higher Chemistry classes. Many students of chemistry will continue to major in related disciplines in the world’s highest ranked universities.

Teaching alongside the Head of Chemistry and wider science team, you will be able to teach chemistry across the age and ability range (Years 7-13) including iGCSE and IB Standard and Higher Level (Direct experience of the IB is not essential as full training will be provided, please outline your experience of teaching to a comparative level eg A level standard)


Bachelor Degree in Education, or Bachelor Degree in Chemistry with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent

2-4 years teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation

Experience of teaching IB is not a necessity and applications are welcome from those with experience of equivalent programmes such as A level. Above all, you will be an excellent teacher and/or leader who shows a willingness to contribute to and learn from the rest of your team. You will have experience of contributing to curriculum change and be willing to explore and embrace the philosophy of the IB programmes. There will be some teaching of general science to lower school students.
