Renaissance College opened for students in August 2006 and is providing an all-through education for 2,100 students aged 5 to 18 years. With advanced design and facilities, Renaissance College is testament to ESF’s continuing contribution to the future of quality education in Hong Kong, featuring first-class amenities such as a dedicated sports centre with sports hall and swimming pool, cafeteria, library and performance arts centre; and high-level infrastructure for Information and Communication Technology. We have a fully developed 1:1 Apple laptop programme for over 1100 students and further 500 school owned Apple laptops and desktops. We also have a growing iPad programme.

Head of Design - Secondary

Responsibilities

The school requires a Secondary Head of Design for 2019/20 Academic Year. The position will be a full-time two years contract starting August 2019, renewable by mutual consent.

The position of Secondary Head of Department (HOD) is part of a College-wide management structure to ensure that students are at the centre of the department’s aims and objectives as well as its practices and procedures. The HOD ensures that MYP and DP curricula are implemented with fidelity, that learning resources are managed efficiently and effectively, and that performance management within the department is carried out according to College policies and procedures. The HOD is an academic leader within his/her department, assisting teachers to develop their own teaching and other professional skills. The HOD is instrumental to the continued development and maturation of the College as a whole, advising the senior leadership teams from time to time as requested, promoting whole school aims and implementing school policies through the work of the department.


Requirements

Education: Bachelor Degree in Education, or
Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent

Person Specifications
The successful applicant is expected to have the following skills, abilities, knowledge and experience.

Personal Skills and Abilities
• excellent record-keeping skills;
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff, students and parents;
• committment to supporting and developing a holistic approach to student well-being.

Knowledge and Experience
• a sound practical knowledge of the IB MYP and DP;
• no previous experience in this specific area necessary although previous demonstrated leadership skills will be an asset.
