Teacher of Chinese

We are seeking a full-time teacher of Chinese to IB Diploma level on a 12 month contract, with full benefit, to commence in August 2019.

We offer a wide range of courses in Chinese to cater for the diverse linguistic background of our student body. Our aim is to ensure effective provision for all of our students, which means we run Language Acquisition courses as well as Language and Literature courses for our native speakers.

The vast majority of students study Chinese from Year 7 to 9 as part of our Middle Years Programme, enabling our learners to take an inquiry-based approach to their studies. Chinese is also a popular option at IGCSE and at IB Diploma where we run courses at both Standard and Higher level, for Chinese A and B.

Alongside Chinese language learning, we ensure our students have the opportunity to gain a greater sense of Chinese culture through the taught curriculum and extra-curricular activities. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in, and help lead, our increasingly diverse languages co-curricular programme. This includes an annual immersion trip for Year 11 students, which may involve spending a week outside of Hong Kong focusing on developing communication skills as well as providing a culturally enriching experience.

We expect our teachers to be creative and innovative in their pedagogical approaches, and able to contribute to collaborative working practices so that we continue to provide rewarding learning experiences for all students.
