Sha Tin Junior School (SJS) is a 5 – 11 primary school and is one of 23 schools which make up the English Schools Foundation in Hong Kong. The school is 5-form entry with 900 students on roll. The school serves a residential zone which comprises the majority of the New Territories in Hong Kong. The student population is international in nature with a large proportion of HK Permanent Residents. Parent expectations and student attainment are high.

SJS follows the inquiry-based international curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and is a fully authorised IBO World School. It is also fully accredited by the Council of International Schools.

Mainscale Class Teacher - Year 1 (Aug 2019 - Jun 2020)


Sha Tin Junior School is seeking to appoint a mainscale class teacher starting 12 August 2019. The post will be available on a 10.7 month contract until 24 June 2020.

The vacancy will be with a Year 1 class and the successful applicant will join our highly motivated and inclusive team of Teachers and Educational Assistants.

The successful candidate will:
• Share the values and ethos of Sha Tin Junior School (
• Have experience of teaching children in Year 1.
• Contribute to an effective transition programme for our children as they move from K2 to Y1
• Be committed to a collaborative approach to teaching and learning and be willing to contribute to an effective and dynamic team.


Experience of teaching primary students is a requirement. A commitment to working in close cooperation with colleagues is essential. Having outstanding skills in ICT and having experience of PYP or a willingness to learn would be additional benefits.

• Bachelor Degree in Education, or
• Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
• 1-3 years teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
