Renaissance College opened for students in August 2006 and is providing an all-through education for 2,100 students aged 5 to 18 years. With advanced design and facilities, Renaissance College is testament to ESF’s continuing contribution to the future of quality education in Hong Kong, featuring first-class amenities such as a dedicated sports centre with sports hall and swimming pool, cafeteria, library and performance arts centre; and high-level infrastructure for Information and Communication Technology. We have a fully developed 1:1 Apple laptop programme for over 1100 students and further 500 school owned Apple laptops and desktops. We also have a growing iPad programme.

Head of Primary Learning Enhancement Team (Starting Aug 2020)

The school requires a Head of Primary Learning Enhancement Team (LET) for 2020/21 Academic Year. The position will be a full-time two year contract starting August 2020, renewable by mutual consent.

Renaissance College is a leading educational organization. The Head of Primary LET will assume responsibilities to lead and manage strategic and day to day practices for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) in the Primary School. The Head of Primary LET will facilitate professional development for school staff to ensure effective inclusive support using appropriate systems, processes, and resources. The role encompasses direct student support and co-teaching as well as collaboration with staff, parents, external practitioners, the Head of Secondary LET, and the Primary Leadership Team.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor Degree in Education, or
Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent


The Head of Primary LET is expected to have the following skills, capabilities, knowledge, and experience:

1. Skills and Capabilities:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Effective leadership and collaboration skills;
• Outstanding management and organizational skills;
• A high level of motivation;
• The ability to take initiative, self-direct, and exercise sound professional judgement;
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.

2. In-depth knowledge of:
• Effective learning and teaching practices to support SEN and EAL students in an inclusive environment;
• Planning, collaboration, and team building processes;
• Research-based assessment practices for, as, and of learning;
• Diagnostic and learning SEN and EAL resources;
• The Primary Years Programme preferred.

3. Experience
• Previous leadership experience preferred;
• Teaching the IBPYP preferred;
• As a primary practitioner preferred;
• Previous SEN and/or EAL experience essential.
